My Tried and True Self Care Sunday Routine

My Tried and True Self Care Sunday Routine

Over the years, we have created systems and rhythms in our family schedule that serve our family so well. For me, everything has to have a place. Knowing that I have time set aside for the most important things helps me stay fully focused on that task at hand, knowing I have time set aside to give the other things attention as well.

In doing that, I realize that I do not function well when I am not taken care of. And that I deserve a spot on the schedule just as everyone else in my family does. So I started utilizing Sunday nights to take care of myself, so that when Monday morning rolls around - I am ready to go.

We typically spend Sunday’s food prepping for the week, doing a family meeting and getting our schedules organized so we are all on the same page. Then, once all the kids are in bed early on Sunday night, I spend some quality time on myself.

My Self Care Sunday’s usually look something like this:

  1. Apply my Self Tanner! WOOP WOOP. I usually do this earlier in the day so it has time to dry. After dinner and before our family meeting so it can dry while were meeting, talking and getting situated before bedtime. I use a 2 hour express tan so it only has to stay on for 2 hours and then I can shower and wash it off.

  2. Take a LONG shower where I usually do some kind of deep conditioner, toner, or treatment on my hair.

  3. While I am in the shower, I will shave all the things.

  4. Blowdry my hair for the week. My haircare routine has been a game-changer for me, knowing that I have set aside time to ensure my hair is done for the week. I have super thick and half curly hair - so my hair takes a lot of time to do. Blowing it out on Sunday night gives me a chance to sleep on it all night to let it smooth out and then I am able to wake up on Monday morning and curl it for the week.

  5. Do a longer skin care regimen than my normal, quick, daily routine. This is when I usually do a mask, a deep moisture treatment for my face, extra oils or my gua sha stones for a nice massage. (If you need help with skincare, take this QUIZ here and it will tell you the exact products to grab for your skin type!)

Here are some of the products that I use each week:

I encourage you to implement this weekly routine into your schedule. In fact, I am going to challenge you to start some form of it, TONIGHT! In addition, I am going to challenge you to get ready with me for the next 7 days straight. No matter what you have on the schedule, no matter how you are feeling - I want you to get yourself ready because it matters!

How we feel pours over into every single area of our life. And I challenge you to add in time for yourself each day for the next 7 days and see how you feel!

If you are up for the challenge, post on social and tag me. Encourage other mama’s you know to take the challenge and see how much better you feel after a week of investing in yourself a little bit each day!
