56. Lessons I Learned in Therapy This Month
Do you ever feel the need to constantly apologize, justify, or explain your actions?
As you all know, I am pretty much an open book. If you’re thinking that just because I have a podcast means that I have it all figured out, you are mistaken. I believe that we ALL have things going on behind the scenes that not everyone can always see on the surface. My therapy sessions this month put A LOT of things in perspective for me.
It’s not always easy to hold a mirror up to yourself and self-reflect. As I really dug deep in therapy with my counselor, I was able to explore and get to the root of some recurring issues. While speaking with my counselor she threw out the word “perfectionist”, in which I immediately felt did not apply to me. However, as I took a deeper look at my life I realized just how true it actually was, and how it was affecting EVERY aspect of my life. My need to justify, explain, and control and manage situations was overwhelming.
In this episode I wanted to share with you some of the most important takeaways from therapy that I learned this month. Some of the advice that I received from my counselor this month was truly life changing. I believe that some of these truths could potentially set you “free” like they did for me. Listen to this episode to see if you have an “aha” moment, just like I did!
